Always a learner and raring to, I picked up several exciting assignments in my 17+ year long career. As a recognition of my entrepreneurial flavor and active interest in corporate affairs, I was often offered a role both in operations and strategy and also an opportunity to serve on the board.
These assignments helped me further to gain experience in all facets of IT Management, including Strategy, setting up of IT operations, IPO management, Program Management, Offshore Delivery Management, Consulting (Team Building, Pre sales, overall Coordination, Client relationship and implementation support) and Business development in India, USA and UK. All this with a special emphasis on Media and Entertainment industry and Internet 🙂
Basically a mechanical engineer, I began my career as a multimedia developer. I was quickly promoted as a project lead for a multimedia CD-ROM project based on Indian movie songs.
In my next stint as a consultant in USA, I worked for reputed government agencies and Fortune 500 companies, rolling out internet and groupware solutions. Some of my exciting projects included an expert system for NASA and a well appreciated Lotus Notes/Microsoft IIS hybrid intranet for AT&T.
I returned from USA to head the IT operations of Lanco, a US$400 million group. At Lanco, I helped the group to successfully translate their strengths in Infrastructure and core-sector to Information Technology. As a part of which, I set-up and led a delivery unit championing new technologies for developing and managing several portals. Later I created a solution delivery unit based on the same core-competence for the newly formed Lanco Global Systems Ltd.
Founded, Arudra Interactive, a unique consulting firm that operates in the overlap of IT and ET sectors.
I was also a Director at Vortex technologies, a .net based business performance management solutions company.
After a brief stint with Catalytic Software (Head-Open Source Development Projects) and Satyam (Bid Director for >USD100MN deals)…spotting a ‘digital’ inflection point in the media industry and excited by its potential, I made a conscious choice to work in projects that demand an overlap of ET and IT skills. Right now, with a TV major heading their digital initiatives.
